Overview
Affnook now allows you to create custom roles based on your organization's requirements. Instead of using only the default system roles, Admins can create new roles with specific module-level permissions, ensuring users have access only to the features they need.
Multiple roles can also be assigned to a user for a specific brand, providing greater flexibility and control over user access.
Who Can Use This Feature?
Only users with the Admin role have permission to manage custom roles. Admins can:
Create new custom roles
Edit existing custom roles
Assign roles to users
Deactivate custom roles
View users assigned to a role
If you do not have Admin access, the Role Management section will not be visible in your dashboard.
Default System Roles
Affnook comes with five predefined system roles that provide standard permission sets for common user types.
The available system roles are:
Admin – Has complete access to all platform modules.
Affiliate Manager – Can manage affiliates, campaigns, and payouts.
Manager – Has administrative access limited to brand-specific modules, including iGaming features.
Note: Default system roles are read-only and cannot be edited, renamed, or deactivated.
Accessing Role Management
The Role Management section allows Admins to create, manage, and organize user roles within Affnook. From this page, you can define custom roles, configure their permissions, edit existing roles, and control which users have access to different parts of the platform.
To access the Role Management page:
Log in to your Affnook account.
From the left navigation menu, click Team Members or select on Team Members by clicking on your profile and then team members.
Select Roles.
Navigation Path:
Dashboard → Team Members → Roles
Once you open the Roles page, you'll find a list of all available system and custom roles. From here, you can:
View all active and inactive roles.
Create new custom roles with module-specific permissions.
Edit existing custom roles to update their details or permissions.
View the users assigned to a particular role.
Deactivate custom roles that are no longer required.
Note: The Role Management section is only visible to users with the Admin role. If you cannot see this option in your dashboard, please contact your platform administrator for the required access.
Role Details
When creating a custom role, you'll need to configure the following fields.
Role Name
The Role Name is the unique identifier for the role.
Choose a name that clearly describes the user's responsibility, such as:
Finance Manager
Read-only Analyst
Compliance Reviewer
Each role name must be unique within the platform.
Description
The Description helps identify the purpose of the role.
Providing a meaningful description makes it easier for other administrators to understand when the role should be assigned.
Example:
Read-only access for compliance audits.
Parent Role (Inheritance)
A Parent Role allows you to create a new role by inheriting the permissions of an existing role.
When a parent role is selected:
All of the parent's permissions are automatically applied.
You can remove permissions that are not required.
You cannot grant permissions that the parent role does not already have.
Only one level of inheritance is supported.
Example
Suppose you create a Junior Affiliate Manager role using Affiliate Manager as the parent role.
The new role will inherit all Affiliate Manager permissions by default. You can then remove permissions, such as editing payouts or managing invoices, to create a more restricted role.
Permissions
Permissions determine what actions a role can perform in each module.
Depending on the module, you can assign the following permissions:
Create – Allows users to create new records.
View – Allows users to view existing records.
Edit – Allows users to modify existing records.
Each permission is configured independently.
For example, granting Create permission does not automatically grant View or Edit permission.
Assigning Roles to Users
After creating a role, it can be assigned while adding a new user or by editing an existing user's profile.
Assigning a Role to a New User
Navigate to:
Dashboard → Team Members → Add Member
Enter the user's information.
Select one or more roles.
If required, assign different roles for different brands.
Save the user.
The user will receive permissions based on the assigned roles.
Assigning a Role to an Existing User
Navigate to:
Dashboard → Team Members → Edit Member
Open the required user's profile.
Update the assigned roles.
Save the changes.
Permission updates are applied during the user's next login or shortly afterwards through the platform's background refresh process.
Multiple Role Assignment
A user can be assigned more than one role.
When multiple roles are assigned, Affnook combines the permissions from all assigned roles. This means the user receives every permission available across those roles.
Managing Existing Roles
Editing a Role
Custom roles can be updated whenever your organization's requirements change.
To edit a role:
Dashboard → Team Members → Roles
Select the required role, click Edit, make the necessary changes, and save.
Only custom roles can be edited. System roles remain read-only.
Deactivating a Role
If a role is no longer required, it can be deactivated.
Deactivating a role:
Prevents it from being assigned to new users.
Preserves existing historical records.
Allows the role to be reactivated later if needed.
A role cannot be deactivated while it is assigned to active users.
Important Notes
Only Admins can create, edit, assign, or deactivate custom roles.
Every user must have at least one role assigned.
Multiple roles can be assigned to a single user.
